Our Purpose & Heritage
Create fall protection apparel for seniors, that seniors actually want to wear!
Founded by Joseph Shenton after seeing his grandmother suffer a painful fall.
Inspiration
Our Founder's Nana - Norma
Fell while gardening & refused ugly medical devices
ORIGIN
His Nana didn't want to wear the ugly and stigmatized existing fall protection
In 2018, my nana, Norma, suffered a terrible fall while gardening outside, fracturing both of her wrists. Even after this traumatic experience, she adamantly refused to wear any of the currently available protective devices.
They were bulky, humiliating, and came with a medical stigma. My nana is 80 years old, and she still takes immense pride in how she dresses. Why should safety require forfeiting dignity?
I realized the industry didn't have a science problem. Existing fall protection solutions could reduce the risk of fracture by 70%. It had an adoption problem. Only 2% of over 65s ever wore them. Parachute was created to increase adoption through style and discretion.
